Out With is our new online series that delves into the Outdoor lives of some of the country’s best known media and marketing professionals. This month, we hear from Lidl’s Media Manager, Robert Sheehan.

1. Favourite thing to do outdoors

Playing football for sure. It’s my favourite form of escapism!

2. Favourite place to shop – Shopping Centre/City Centre

Dundrum is my go-to place for pretty much everything!

3. Favourite location for a weekend walk

I wouldn’t be a big walker but when I’m in Courtmacsherry in West Cork I do love bringing the dog out for a wander. I spent all my childhood summers down there. Life just seems to move slower out that way. When the sun shines, there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be.

4. Favourite pub for a cosy drink

The Bottlers Bank in Rathgar in Dublin or else Mutton Lane if in Cork.

5. Favourite park to visit

Bushy Park in Terenure is a brilliant spot.

6.  Your Hidden Gem

The Lough by my house in Cork. Not many places near a city centre anywhere in the world where you can fish, sunbathe and play football all in the one place. You can even get a drink in the Hawthorn Bar right beside it. The owners will thank me for calling it out. If you’re in Cork city on a summers day, that’s my hidden gem.

7. Favourite roadtrip to take

My cousins have a house in Allihies on the Beara Peninsula and the drive out that way is a long one but absolutely stunning.

8. Favourite OOH site/location

There’s an inverted 48 sheet in Rathmines on the wall of the Spar that I’m obsessed with! It’s such a striking site and really stands out.

9.  Favourite sports venue

Croke Park for the GAA or Coffey’s Field in Togher for football. The former is a fortress of Irish sport and heritage but the latter is my schoolboy team’s very own Theatre of Dreams. Too many great memories there to not give it a shout out.

10. Favourite Irish beach

Blind Strand near Courtmacsherry. Only proper seasoned West Cork goers will know that one!

11.  Favourite location for some inspiration

Anywhere in West Cork on the beach. The pace of life is enjoyably slow down there. No better place to read your book, relax and let the mind wander a little to conjure up some inspiration.

12. Favourite mode of transport

I love driving. Nothing better than going on a roadtrip with a full car. Also means I get to control the music. Maybe that’s the real reason.

13. All-time favourite OOH campaign

(Apart from all the great work I’ve been lucky to be a part of with Lidl..) my favourite OOH campaign would have to be the mytaxi campaign when they rebranded from Hailo. I just think the execution was brilliant, the creative was fantastic and how the copy from OOH was brought to life then on Radio was simply excellent in my opinion.
